Finding a remedy for canker sores can often mean looking no further
than your kitchen cabinet. Many common household items are capable of
soothing and healing canker sores.
Have you ever had a canker sore? You know, one of those little
white sores on the inside of your mouth? Looks like a little indented
blister. These little sores can be quite painful to have to endure and
they usually last for around ten days or so. Canker sores can be
brought on by stress and may also be a signal for a need in your
diet. Left untreated, they will usually disappear on their own, but
can reoccur at any time. It is a good idea to have a few things handy
that can help to ease your discomfort any time a canker sore rears its
ugly head.
There are several household items that can bring pain relief and
help with the healing of a canker sore. You can try putting aloe on
the sore or honey. A warm salt water rinse has proven beneficial
toward the healing of canker sores. If you can handle it, putting salt
directly on the sore for a few minutes may also help, as the salt
makes the sore dry up faster. But this can be quite painful, so it is
only for the brave of heart. Honey might sting, as well, so only try
salt and honey if you have a high pain threshold. Of course, if you
have a high threshold of pain, then you probably are not looking for
any canker sore pain relief.
One remedy for canker sores that even a doctor will tell you about
is mixing water and baking soda into a paste. Then just rub this paste
right on to the sore to help with the healing process. If home
remedies are not your thing and you would rather have actual medicine,
there are many different over the counter medicines designed to ease
the pain of canker sores. If you are not sure which one is the best,
do an online search and compare different medicines. Better yet, just
ask your pharmacist which one he would recommend for canker
sores. Finally, if canker sores are a reoccurring problem for you, try
to find the source of the outbreaks. Doing this could help in reducing
the number of outbreaks that you have to suffer.
